Rachael Ray once again invited me to her program to show women self-defense.
Did you know that in 2015, the last year we have statistics on, there were nearly 1.2 million violent crimes committed in the United States? Even worse, there were over 124,000 cases of rape, up from 118,000 in 2014. This is why it is absolutely critical that your wife, daughter, and female loved ones learn some basic self-defense. By sharing this information with them you may save them from becoming a member of these statistics.
That’s why I took the time to show Rachael how to defend herself from an attacker. I demonstrated the simple moves that can free a woman who is grabbed by the hair. You simply grab the hands of the attacker and hold them against your head. Then you spin under the attacker’s arm. It’s that simple. However, your loved ones need to watch it to see it work. They may even enjoy watching how effectively Rachael employed it on me.
Rachael and I show women self-defense
Now that you’ve watched the video, you have seen some other techniques demonstrated. Practice and experience in a variety of techniques are key to an emergency defense plan.
I woke up this morning alone as usual:( on my 69th birthday. I’m aching and stiff but thankful to be alive and want to stay that way. Your video with Rachael Ray put such a smile on my face. I plan to watch it a few more times. It’s empowering. Thanks for your service and do you want to be my son?
MaryAnn,
Thanks for the kind words. My goal is always to help empower good people.

Mr. Hanson,
I really am appreciating what you are doing and teaching. Infact, here lately the emails and the videos that have come out has literally been the very thing my family has dealt with and you have provided a resolution!!! The first was the credit card vault and the second was “You Must Teach Your Wife and Daughter This”. However, my son is dealing with some bullies that have actually pulled his hood of his hoodie and dragged him by his hood. Do you have any techniques for a situation like that? Thanks for all you are doing! Stay Safe!
Jason,
I have a few email accounts, however I don’t think much of their security. Is there anywhere you would suggest getting email that won’t read it, track you, or send your info to the government? I’m not sure if you already addressed this, but I am looking for better email.
Chet,
This is a more complicated topic than it may first appear. I asked Jason Crawford to write a more in-depth response to this question on your behalf. I hope you find it valuable.

I am a physician, and last month I helped take care of a young woman who was stabbed multiple times while running during daylight hours on our local biking and running trails. Is there something small and relatively unobtrusive that young women that run alone can carry that will help ward off attackers? Some kind of spray ?
Thank you for your thoughts.
David,
It can be difficult to give a one size fits all solution for this type of situation. However, I generally recommend everyone carry a tactical pen. A few months ago I shared one of our reader’s stories about using the tactical pen that might be worth taking a look at.

Great self defense moves for my granddaughters to learn. Thank you very much for your instructions.
Judy,
Thank you for helping share the message. I hope your granddaughters never need to use these skills, but thanks to you they will be better prepared if they ever do.
Stay Safe!
Jason, last night while driving home my daughter was shot at in her car. Luckily she was unhurt, window was shattered of course, and of course no one has been found yet. My question is this–I am thinking that a dash cam in her car taping both front and back could have helped identify this person as well as their license plate. Could you recommend one that I could look into getting for her car. I am willing to spend enough to get a “good one” that does everything I need it to do for her protection.
Thanks for any help you could give me on this.
